Elizabeth St Co-living
This 251 micro-apartment co-living project reimagines urban density through a highly contextual response to site and scale. MOSTAGHIM assisted the client in securing the winning bid by challenging the default tower typology - proposing instead a perimeter building that respects neighbouring conditions and unlocks spatial and operational advantages.
The site presented significant planning constraints, including boundary-facing balconies and windows on the adjacent property. Our solution introduced a central void, preserving amenity for neighbours while enabling natural light and ventilation across the new development.
Visually, the site sits at a junction between the high-rise forms of Liverpool Street and the fine-grain heritage buildings to the south. The design mediates this transition through a rectilinear façade that aligns with the adjacent tower, while material selections and detailing at the podium level reference the masonry character of nearby heritage structures. The result is a building that feels embedded in its context-layered, legible, and responsive to both street and skyline.
