Glebe Co-living
Located at the transition between industrial brick warehouses and Victorian terraces, Glebe Co-living responds to its surroundings with a dynamic architectural approach. The brick mass of the warehouses is broken down into offset brick piers set within a steel frame, gradually lightening towards the corner to ease the transition between old and new.
Brick piers delicately balance on steel beams, gradually reducing in number toward the corner to create a more transparent and lighter structure—subtly referencing the Victorian terraces with their cast iron verandahs and intricate iron lacework.
A café activates the corner and streetscape, providing an additional amenity for residents. The quality of design and documentation resulted in the development application for 78 micro apartments being approved in only nine months.
